CONCRETE ACHIEVEMENTS
The site for Dar El-Imzad
A plot of 10,000 sq m located 5km from Tamanrasset on the road to Assekrem has been purchased from the state by the Sauver l’Imzad Association for a total price of 2 million Algerian dinars.
This land will be the place for the establishment of “Dar el-Imzad”, whose aim is to gather together and to train all the performers and those who are passionate about the traditional arts of the deserts.
Once it has been set up, it must become a regional and international cultural beacon, and will in this way serve as a firm base on which to build and to preserve all the non-material assets which are at risk of disappearing.
A first sketch-plan has been produced by Mr Rachid Koraichi and the architectural studios of Mrs Odile Burnod (this plan was outlined at the colloquium – see the presentations by Rachid Koraichi and Odile Burnod).
The whole project is now being developed, and awaits the involvement of sponsors and donors to take it forward to the construction phase.
A dedicated bank account specifically for this project will soon be opened.
